Waramin rugs (also known as Varamin or Veramin) originate from the city of the same name, which is located 50 kilometres south-east of the Iranian capital Tehran. In the first half of the 20th century, fine knotted rugs with an even all-over print and robust structure were created here. Nowadays, very few oriental carpets are still knotted in Waramin, making models of this provenance extremely rare.

Waramin rugs - floral works of art of unique beauty
The high-quality Waramin carpets belong to the younger generation of oriental carpets. Their commercial production began in the 1930s - initiated by investors from Tehran. At the same time, the legendary factories in the nearby carpet stronghold of Ghom were established. The works of art knotted there served the masters in Waramin as inspiration for their own works, which is reflected in the knotting patterns and colouring. The Mina Chaneh design is characteristic of Waramin carpets. The Persian word "mina" means daisy, "chaneh" means house. When put together, the term can be translated as a bed of daisies. The multi-petalled elements resemble - depending on the style - a delicate flower or a precious jewel. This makes the waramin one of the most splendid carpet variants of the Orient.
A waramin as an elegant living element in your home
Symmetry plays a central role in hand-knotted Waramin rugs. The majority of them feature a four-part design, with each element framed by four similar motifs. This design has a particularly harmonious effect on the human eye. Typical colours include red, blue and beige in various shades. This combination creates carpets with lively or calm colours. In addition to their aesthetics, Waramins also impress with their functional benefits. The hand-knotted works of art are made from hand-spun sheep's wool - a natural fibre that is both hard-wearing and soft to the touch. As the wool threads get their brilliant colour from mineral or vegetable dyeing processes, Waramin rugs are purely natural products. This makes them a sustainable, durable and unique living element for the living room, bedroom and children's room.
