Nain carpets with 6La and 4La have a very high knot density and a supple texture. With their intricate patterns and majestic colours, they are an expression of luxury and elegance.

Nain 6La and Nain 4La rugs - hand-knotted masterpieces with a luxurious character

The coveted Nain 6La and Nain 4La carpets originate from the Iranian oasis city of the same name, which lies to the east of the carpet stronghold of Isfahan. As early as the 18th century, it was considered the centre of Persian textile processing. The master craftsmen initially produced overhangs for the aristocracy before dedicating their skills to carpet weaving. Over the centuries, they perfected their craft, resulting in ever finer Nain carpets. These are divided into several quality levels such as 4La, 6La or 9La. La (also: Lah) is a unit which, together with the number, expresses the number of threads in the warp yarn. If the warp yarn is twisted from just a few threads, it is thin. The volume of the knots is correspondingly small, which enables a very high knot density. For Nain carpets with 6La, this is 850,000 to 1,200,000 knots per square metre. Nain carpets with 4La are even finer, with a knot density of up to 2,000,000 knots per square metre.

Due to the high knot density, the weaving of fine Nain carpets requires the skilful hands of the most talented masters. This demanding production makes 4La and 6La rugs rare and sought-after by collectors today. The luxury Nain carpets knotted by Fathollah Habibian are particularly popular. As the "father of Nain carpets", he has significantly influenced the characteristic patterns and colours of these fine Persian carpets. The typical design of the Nain rug features a central element framed by floral elements. The material used is supple sheep's wool, whereby the details are often worked with silk threads. Their delicate lustre emphasises the intricacies of the pattern. Characteristic of these magnificent Persian carpets is the colour scheme, which is dominated by shades of blue, beige and white. The royal colouring underlines the grandeur of the fine Nain carpets with 4La and 6La.
